The Sh*t No One Tells You About Starting a Soul-Led Business
May 26, 2025
Starting a soul-led business will break you in places your business coach forgot to mention.
So you’ve lit the candle, pulled the tarot card, scribbled down your dream offer, and whispered to the universe: I’m starting a business.
✨ Cue the montage: Canva templates, vision boards, a sparkly new Instagram bio that says “CEO.”
✨ Cue the coaches selling you 10k months.
✨ Cue the TikToks with their "just post content and trust" energy.
And then…
🚨 Cue the Void. 🚨
You pour your whole heart into this business. You post your offer. You wait.
And the response? Crickets with commitment issues.
Not because your work isn’t amazing. But because no one told you the truth:
Real businesses don’t launch to applause—they launch to silence.
Let’s Talk About the Void (Because No One Else Will)
When I started Slight Look, I wasn’t new to this. I’d already built a business—and watched it crumble into ashes (along with some legal drama and enough therapy receipts to kill a small forest).
This brand? This business? This version of me?
It rose from that chaos. But let me be real: even with experience, clarity, and a powerful-ass offer, I still had to sit in the void.
You know the one.
You’re lit up, on fire, in your purpose.
You create. You post. You launch.
And then… nada. No validation. No audience. Just a cosmic holding pattern.
And that silence?
It’s not personal—it’s math, time, and trust-building.
But if your mindset isn’t built for the long game, the void will convince you to quit before your magic even has a chance to land.
I F*cked Around—and Found Out
Let me walk you through a few business sins I’ve already repented for:
-
Did I file my LLC before launching? LOL. No.
-
Did I make it rain on software subscriptions I didn’t need? Yep.
-
Did I take clients who drained my soul? Unfortunately, yes.
-
Did any of this make me more legit? Absolutely not.
Here’s the hard truth:
You can be "all in" without being financially reckless.
The universe doesn’t give a damn about your 7 premium platforms and your Notion aesthetic.
It cares that you show up—consistently, courageously, and with your sh*t structurally intact.
The Mistake I See Every. Damn. Day.
I work with spiritual entrepreneurs, coaches, creatives, healers.
You’re intuitive. You’re visionary. You’re magical as hell.
But a lot of you are skipping the one thing that will keep your business standing when things get quiet:
The Foundation.
👉 Building a brand before you even have an offer.
👉 Hiring a designer before your LLC is filed.
👉 Manifesting clients before you’ve built the infrastructure to onboard them.
I get it. Legal stuff feels corporate.
Tech feels soulless.
But here’s the shift: Structure isn’t selling out—it’s soul protection.
You can run a spiritual business and still keep your receipts.
You can build with the divine and understand Stripe fees.
You can cast spells and write contracts.
That’s not contradiction. That’s wisdom. That’s power.
For the Dreamers, Overthinkers, and Slightly Burned-Out Baddies
If you’ve ever thought…
-
“Why is no one buying yet?”
-
“Maybe I’m not cut out for this.”
-
“Shouldn’t it feel easier by now?”
I want you to hear me loud:
You’re not broken. You’re building.
That silence? That awkward in-between where it feels like everyone else is thriving and you’re just floating in entrepreneurial purgatory?
That’s not failure. That’s business.
Not the flashy, unicorn-launch kind.
The resilient, foundation-first, still-standing-in-five-years kind.
TLDR—Here’s the Slight Look You Didn’t Know You Needed
✨ It’s okay if your biz isn’t popping off yet.
✨ It’s okay if you’re still using post-it notes as your CRM.
✨ It’s okay if your backend is held together by vibes and Google Docs.
You are building something real.
And real takes time.

Don’t speed up just to keep up.

You’re building something algorithms can’t measure.
And that’s the kind of business that actually lasts.
